Just in time for spring and warmer weather, Sandy Springs will open its newest park next month.

On April 13, the city will cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the Abernathy Greenway South Trail Park. City officials will cut the ribbon at 4 p.m.

The park is situated on the corner of Abernathy and Wright Roads.

The new South Trail Park will feature park benches, bike racks, pet waste stations, trash cans, landscaping and of course, walking trails. The park is just a few steps away from the streets of Sandy Springs and the city hopes it provides residents and visitors a break from the hustle and bustle.

“The Abernathy Greenway and its surrounding green spaces and trails are an example of what is possible when community and civic leaders work together with a common vision,” Mayor Rusty Paul said in a statement.

Sandy Springs now has 20 parks than covers 950 acres of land. All parks are open to the public from sunrise to sundown, except for those with athletic fields and programming that may have special hours.
