Hurricane Michael: Here’s what Columbus can expect

The National Hurricane Center says the storm currently has maximum sustained winds of 150 mph at its center.

If you live in Columbus, you can expect Hurricane Michael to hit Wednesday evening, with wind gusts up to 73 miles per hour during the height of the storm, according to the National Weather Service. But forecasters warn of a potential for winds upwards of 70 miles per hour and urge residents to move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.

Widespread rainfall of 3-5 inches and thunderstorms are also expected through Thursday, plus an elevated risk of localized flash flooding. Locals should heed any flood watches and warnings.
