Gwinnett is seeking future youth leaders in the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades who want to serve their county on behalf of their peers and learn how to impact decisions that affect youth in the community. This summer program will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p. m. every Wednesday.
Interested candidates must apply by 5 p.m. Monday, April 6.
The Gwinnett Youth Commission is a leadership and service-oriented program designed to empower young people to become knowledgeable and involved in local government. Students who participate in this program will interact with Gwinnett government leaders, speak on behalf of Gwinnett youth, serve as youth ambassadors for the county, and plan community events and participate in volunteer projects.
To be considered for the program, youth must be a Gwinnett County resident, attend a Gwinnett county public school, Buford City School, private, home school, or charter school).
The class is limited to 30 participants each cycle. Selections will be made by an independent committee based on eligibility and submitted essay.
