Gov. Nathan Deal and two former governors were among those attending funeral services Saturday for former Georgia State Patrol trooper Tony Henry, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Services for Henry, 49, were in Newton County, Channel 2 reported. Henry died Tuesday from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash in Florida on Dec. 3.

Former governors Sonny Perdue and Roy Barnes also attended the services, according to the station. Henry was assigned to the security detail for Deal, Perdue and Barnes.

Services were at the Church at Covington with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating, the station reported.

News of Henry’s death prompted social media tributes earlier in the week.

“Our hearts are heavy tonight,” Deal said, “but we rejoice knowing he is a better place.”
