DeKalb County police on Monday arrested a man in the beating death of a man at the United Inn and Suites on Memorial Drive.

Daryl Miller, 40, is charged with murder in the death of Gavin McKenzie, 35, who died in the hospital this past Thursday, police said.

Officers were called to hotel, located at 4649 Memorial Drive, at about 6 a.m. and found McKenzie in critical condition.

“Witnesses at the scene reported they observed the victim engaged in a fight with an unknown suspect in front of Room 320,” Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

Police identified Miller as the suspect after releasing security camera photos to the public.

The department hasn’t said what led to the fight.
