A coffee shop and restaurant on Emory University's campus easily passed its follow-up health inspection last week, after failing its first inspection this year.
The Depot by Kaldi's Coffee, located on Eagle Row between residence halls and a set of train tracks, got a 60 on its inspection last month.
It scored a 98 two weeks later, according to the follow-up report from the DeKalb County Board of Health’s Environmental Health division.
Jordan Higgs, the general manager of the location, called the failing score an “anomaly.”

“Historically, we have maintained high scores,” he said in a statement in mid-March. Kaldi’s got a 93 and 95 in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
Higgs said the shop is reviewing procedures “and implementing enhancements to prevent this from happening again.”
Kaldi’s was originally hit with more than a dozen violations. The report stated that raw food was stored near cooked and ready-to-eat food, food preparation equipment was not clean and employees’ hands were not properly washed.
Most of the violations were corrected on-site and fixed for the follow-up inspection.
