All Cobb County schools will release students two hours early Friday and cancel all weekend activities ahead of a snow storm expected to prompt a state of emergency.

The school system announced the news just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters say metro Atlanta could be in for up to 4 inches of snow this weekend.

The district postponed a Magnet program admissions exam that 160 students were slated to take Saturday.

A winter storm warning will go into effect for north Georgia Friday as a winter storm is expected to bring up to 4 inches of snow this weekend.
