Teens’ fatal crash renews call for fixes at dangerous corner

The crash last week that killed two brothers who attended Dacula High School was not the first fatality at that Gwinnett County intersection.
A Dacula city councilman was killed killed there in 1997 when he steered his car into the path of a tractor-trailer, while making the same left turn as Jared Brown, 17, one of the teens killed last week. There are an average of two crashes a month at the intersection of Ga. 316 and Harbins Road, according to an Atlanta Regional Commission report that described that stretch of Ga. 316 as one of the most congested in the region.
It has long been a concern for area officials, parents and students. Find out in our report why changes have been so long in coming.
