Students learn how to interact with police

A police officer recently gave some Gwinnett County students a lesson on what to do when stopped by the police.

Don’t reach for your wallet or make any sudden movements. Turn down your radio. Be polite, even if you don’t believe the officer is being respectful to you.

A judge encouraged the students to ask questions, and some did so. The discussion was part of a new effort in Gwinnett to better explain to students interested in the law how the criminal justice system works. Officials said they learned from the students as well.
