The DeKalb County School District has agreed to continue revising its policies and training in connection with a case of student harassment after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

A settlement agreement Tuesday with the U.S. Justice Department comes after a settlement in May 2013 of alleged harassment of a Sikh student, according to a statement from the office of United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates in Atlanta.

DeKalb agreed to implement harassment-prevention training based on religious and national origin for students, employees who interact with students and administrators involved in addressing harassment or bullying. “The training will include topics related to post-9/11 backlash and harassment that perpetuates negative stereotypes impacting the Sikh, Muslim, Arab-American, and South Asian communities,” the statement said.
