Legislation reducing the focus on testing in Georgia schools will go to a vote in a key legislative committee Friday morning.

Senate Bill 364 has already passed the state Senate by unanimous consent, but it lost momentum in the House of Representatives after members of the House Education committee amended it.

A two-hearing Wednesday showed broad support for the original bill by Sen. Lindsey Tippins, R-Marietta, and also for some of the changes.

Rep. Brooks Coleman, R-Duluth, the chairman of the committee, said his committee will work with Tippins on a consensus bill to be released Thursday and voted on in committee Friday morning before heading to the House floor.
