Three incumbent Gwinnett County school board members were the only candidates to file paperwork to run for the seats, which are up for grabs in November.
Louise Radloff, a Democrat who has been on the school board since 1973, completed the necessary paperwork to run for a 12th consecutive, four-year term as the District V representative. The district all or portions of the Berkmar, Duluth, Meadowcreek, and Norcross clusters in addition to the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology and Maxwell High School of Technology.
Mary Kay Murphy, a Republican who was first elected to the board in 1996, is running for a sixth, four-year term as Gwinnett’s District III representative. The district includes all or part of the Collins Hill, Duluth, Lanier, Norcross, North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge clusters.
Carole Boyce, a Republican who has been on the school board since 2005, filed paperwork to run for a fourth, four-year term as the school board’s District I representative. The district includes all or part of the Archer, Brookwood, Central Gwinnett, Dacula, Grayson, Mill Creek, Mountain View and South Gwinnett clusters.
The qualifying period was last week for candidates interested in running as either a Democrat or Republican for any of those school board seats. Candidates interested in running as an independent can file paperwork to run beginning June 27 through July 1.
Election Day is November 8.
