Gwinnett County Public Schools Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks has been selected to serve on a federal committee that will determine how some parts of a new education law will be implemented.

Wilbanks will be on the 24-member negotiated rulemaking committee, which will draft regulations for how federal funds will supplement state and local funds in high-need schools and for assessments, Gwinnett officials said.

Gwinnett officials announced last week that Wilbanks was part of the committee.

Also last week, Wilbanks received the University of Georgia College of Education’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
