Students at Fulton County's Feldwood Elementary are expected to participate in an interactive assembly on Friday with Discovery Education, aimed at getting students interested in science and other related fields.

Discovery Education’s science guru Patti Duncan will lead 400 students through the assembly at the school in College Park. The event is meant to underscore the significant role science plays in daily life.

Special guest Hakeem Oluseyi, astrophysicist and star of Science Channel’s “Outrageous Acts of Science,” will also speak to attendees about the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

In addition to the assembly, Feldwood will receive a one-year, customized STEM education program to support teachers and engage students through Science Channel and Discovery Education.
