A Cobb County student died on a school trip to Central America, school officials reported Monday.

Tomari Aliijah Jackson, a freshman at North Cobb High School, was last seen alive hiking in shallow water near a river bank at the Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in Belize on Saturday, said Angela M. Huff, chief of staff for the Cobb County School District.

The boy was found dead after a search by local authorities, she said.
