Public school students in Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties will have a day off Tuesday as ice threatens to coat the roadways, making for treacherous driving conditions.

Administrators at those school districts decided Monday night to cancel class as the weather report warned of icy conditions following Monday night’s rains.

Students in Atlanta Public Schools, City Schools of Decatur and Marietta City Schools already had Tuesday off due to winter breaks.

Many Cobb and Fulton employees are still expected at work. Some administrators and other non-teaching staff were told to report to work late, at 11 a.m. in both districts, as temperatures were expected to rise and improve driving conditions. While school is closed in Atlanta for the break, administrative offices and operations will still open, but not until 10 a.m., a spokesman said.
