Autism organization holds educational event

The Harris-Gude Foundation, an organization that raises awareness about autism, will hold a day of “education, information and inspiration” on Nov. 14.

The group, started by Corey and Kym Gude, the parents of a child with autism, has been connecting parents with resources and information about the condition for more than half a decade. The group encourages early detection, which results in more effective intervention. Kym Gude says parents should learn about warning signs that tend to appear by age 2 or 3. Children often go undiagnosed until elementary school, when they’ve already fallen behind academically.

The event is 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead, 3315 Peachtree Rd. NE. Information: www.hgfwecare.com, or 678-640-3258.
