An Atlanta elementary school will get additional cleaning and disinfecting this weekend after some first graders developed mysterious rashes.
On Thursday, during a first grade science class, seven of the 22 students in the class complained of intense itching and redness on their arms.Atlanta Public Schools spokeswoman Latisha Gray said all the affected students reported feeling better today.
There were no chemicals being used in the classroom at the time and no other students in the building reported similar symptoms, Gray said. The school nurse sent letters home to all students in the class.
The science lab was cleaned and disinfected Thursday night and the entire school will get additional cleaning and disinfecting this weekend, Gray said.
School officials have not been able to discover the source of the rashes, she said.
