The Atlanta school board on Monday approved an increase to the property tax rate.
The district will keep the tax rate at 20.74 mills. But because of higher property values, that amounts to an effective tax increase of 1.52%.
The increase is estimated to cost the owner of a home with a fair market value of $300,000 an additional $37, according to APS.
The board voted 7-0 to set the rate. Board member Kandis Wood Jackson was absent and did not cast a vote.
