The Atlanta school board has extended a charter school’s lease of a former high school building.

The Atlanta Board of Education this month agreed to give Westside Atlanta Charter School an additional year to use the former Archer High School at 2250 Perry Blvd. The new agreement means the charter school's lease runs through until June 30, 2021.

Atlanta Public Schools does not charge charter schools rental fees, in accordance with state law.

In February 2018, the school board approved an initial two-year lease of the building, ending in 2020, while Westside Atlanta Charter built a new facility.

The lease agreement requires the charter school to be responsible for utilities, building maintenance, and capital improvements.
