At least six people were displaced in a fire at an apartment complex Tuesday in southwest Atlanta.

The fire occurred at the Lakewood Forest Apartments in the 2600 block of Old Hapeville Road.

“We’re still trying to find out how many more people are going to be displaced,” Atlanta fire Battalion Chief Stephen Hill said.

Fire crews responded to a call about the fire just before 6 a.m.

When firefighters arrived at the 12-unit apartment building, they found a small fire in a utility closet near a furnace.

“Those guys were able to get in really quick and get it knocked down,” Hill said.

Two units were affected, he said.
