A man was hit by a vehicle and killed in northwest Atlanta on Thursday morning, officials said.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, “ran out into traffic” and was hit near the corner of Chattahoochee Avenue and Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard shortly after 7 a.m., Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty told AJC.com.

The driver remained at the scene after the fatal crash and is cooperating with the police investigation, Daugherty said. The driver had been traveling northwest on Chattahoochee Avenue at the time of the accident, according to police.
