If you recently ate at the IHOP in Peachtree City, heads up: You might want to check your credit card bill.

A waitress at the restaurant on Joel Cowan Parkway was arrested Friday after allegedly changing the tip amount on at least 15 customers’ receipts to fluff up the amount she walks home with, police said.

Tammy Neri, 40, of Peachtree City, was charged with 15 counts of financial transaction card fraud, Peachtree City police spokeswoman Lt. Odilia Bergh told AJC.com.

The customers “walk away, and she would just manipulate the tip amount and then enter it for the final reading,” Bergh said.

Neri allegedly altered the tips between Aug. 31 and Sept. 17.

Authorities discovered the alleged crimes after one customer noticed an inaccuracy on their credit card bill and brought it up to the restaurant. At that point, management discovered multiple receipts had been altered, triggering the investigation.

Bergh did not have an estimate for how much money Neri is believed to have added onto tips.

Police urged consumers to check their credit card bills for any inconsistencies and possible fraud, which Bergh said is “unfortunately more common than you think.”
