A northwest Atlanta street has reopened after authorities determined a grenade in the area “was not live,” a police spokesman said.

About 8:20 a.m. Saturday, Atlanta police learned the grenade was in front of a business in the 1700 block of Howell Mill Road.

Howell Mill was temporarily blocked and the police SWAT team was notified, Officer John Chafee with the Atlanta Police Department said.

The scene was cleared just after 10 a.m.
