Houston police said a man was beaten to death with a large stick at a food market, KHOU reported.

The incident occurred late Tuesday at the store in northeast Houston, the Houston Chronicle reported.

According to investigators, the suspect hit the victim on the forehead with a large stick, the newspaper reported. The victim tried to get away but was hit again in the head, police said.

A witness and friend of the victim told police the incident was over $15 the victim allegedly owed the suspect, KHOU reported.

The suspect and two other people carried the victim outside, KPRC reported. Police said witnesses performed CPR and the man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died, the television station reported.

Police said they have surveillance video of the suspect and hope to release it soon, KHOU reported.
