A Hall County man says one of the first things he’s going to do with $7 million in lottery winnings is set up an education trust fund for his 3-year-old child.
Then there’s the upcoming wedding, Cody Locantro of Gainesville told Georgia Lottery officials Thursday as he collected his oversized check in Duluth.
“We’re engaged,” Locantro said of his longtime girlfriend, “but we haven’t set a date.”
The manufacturing plant worker won in the Oct. 30 $7 Million Jackpot Extra Chance Promotion, which allowed lottery players to submit non-winning tickets for the televised drawing.
Locantro said he didn’t believe it when his fiance, family and friends told him he’d won.
“To win $7 million feels great. I’m very humbled,” Locantro told lottery officials. “To be honest with you, it’s almost surreal. It is a lot of money, but it really is not a lot of money if you don’t invest it and spend it wisely.”
“My plans are mainly to invest the money and buy a new home and car.” the 35-year-old man said. He also can provide for his child’s future. “We have a 3-year-old son, so I want to set up a trust fund for school,” Locantro said.
While no wedding date has been set, that might not be the case for long.
