Gwinnett STAR students named; they put spotlight on their influential teachers

Brookwood High School’s Eric Yao and Parkview High School’s Julian Menzel have been named Gwinnett 2013 STAR students. Both were recognized Thursday at the county’s STAR Student and Teacher luncheon at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce in Duluth. All school-level STAR students — from public and private high schools local in the county were recognized. Each STAR student is a senior in the top 10 percent of his or her class with the highest SAT score. As part of the recognition, each STAR student selects a teacher who has had a strong influence on his or her academic career. Eric Yao selected Dana Kling, Brookwood High language arts teacher, and Julian Menzel chose Caroline Miklosovic, a Parkview Latin teacher.
