Gwinnett County police are asking for the public’s help identifying an impatient would-be bank robber.

The attempted robbery occured about 10:15 a.m. March 28 at the SunTrust bank at 5950 Jimmy Carter Blvd., Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said.

“The tellers at the location reported that a male had just passed a note demanding money and then raised his shirt to display a handgun,” Washington said. “Due to the time that the teller was taking to open the drawer, the suspect fled the bank without receiving any money.”

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s. Surveillance images released Monday showed him wearing a blue sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000 — by contacting Crime Stoppers at crimestoppersatlanta.org or 404-577-TIPS.
