Authorities said a Norcross man was hit by a work van and killed Sunday, and now Gwinnett County police are looking for the white vehicle and its driver.

Gabriel Perez Ortiz, 32, was trying to cross the intersection at Lawrenceville Highway and Fernview Drive about 8:30 p.m. when he was fatally struck, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Hideshi Valle said in a news release Tuesday. The driver of the work van left the scene after the crash, police said.

Police did not release any additional details about the van or the driver. They are asking for witnesses to come forward who might have seen the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett detectives at 678-442-5653.
