Family and friends will gather Sunday to say goodbye to a University of Georgia student found dead inside his dorm room.

David Peacock Braun, 21, of Marietta, was found Tuesday night in his Vandiver Hall room in the East Campus Village. The cause of death for Braun has not been determined, but toxicology reports are pending, UGA police and the GBI said earlier this week.

Braun, a 2011 Kell High School graduate, was in his third year at UGA, where he studied psychology and computer science on an academic scholarship, his online obituary states. He played soccer for several years and also loved music.

“Although David was gifted in many ways, he never wanted to flaunt his talent,” his obituary states. “He was passionate about music. He taught himself to play the guitar and became good at it. His University of Georgia roommates could often hear him playing his guitar and singing.”

Visitation will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Rd., Marietta. A funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Nature Conservancy of Georgia in Braun's name.

Braun is survived by his parents, three grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
