A former college football player from Lithonia has been arrested in Indiana and charged with rape after a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her, authorities said.

Bloomington (Ind.) police said a 24-year-old woman was taken to a hospital after they found her in an apartment with multiple injuries to her face and head around 9 p.m. on Oct. 12. Authorities said the woman had to be transferred to a different hospital by ambulance when they learned that she also suffered a brain bleed and a fractured eye socket.

The woman told investigators that 25-year-old Wesley Au’shun Green, who played at Indiana University, sexually assaulted her and also struck her head and face several times during an argument before fleeing the apartment before officers arrived, according to the police department’s Facebook post.

Investigators said they located Green after he tried to call the woman the next day, but a foot pursuit ensued when he fled from police. During the chase, an officer was injured before Green was arrested, according to the post. The officer was treated and is now back to full duty, according to Bloomington police spokesman Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Green was booked into the Monroe County jail and faces charges of rape, aggravated battery, domestic battery, resisting law enforcement and criminal confinement resulting in serious bodily injury, according to online jail records. His bond is set at $250,500.

Green played football at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Lithonia. He was ranked by ESPN as the No. 13 cornerback in the nation and the No. 9 prospect in Georgia in 2014.

Green attended the University of South Carolina before transferring to Indiana in 2015. According to several media reports, he played for the Hoosiers in 2016 but was later suspended indefinitely and then dismissed from the team in March 2017.
