A Douglas County firefighter was injured early Tuesday battling a business fire in downtown Douglasville.

The blaze broke out before 3:40 a.m. at Town & Country Fabrics and Upholstery in the 6600 block of Broad Street, county officials told the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Several streets — U.S. 78, Ga. 92 and Church Street — were blocked by fire crews.

County spokesman Wes Tallon told Channel 2 Action News that the injured firefighter was taken to a local hospital.

“The firefighter … is doing well & appreciates everyone’s thoughts & prayers,” the Douglas fire department said in posts on the agency’s official Facebook and Twitter pages.
