A 46-year-old man may have drugged, molested and raped multiple girls — some as young as 8 years old — throughout the southeastern United States, according to authorities.

The FBI is looking for victims of Matthew John Coniglio, who was jailed in Savannah on April 10 for possession of child pornography. He committed suicide while incarcerated on April 20.

The FBI is encouraging potential victims to come forward in order to aid investigators and potentially seek services through the FBI’s Victim Assistance Program.

Coniglio was working as a sales representative for a food distribution company in Florida at the time of his arrest.

According to the FBI, videotaped evidence seized in Pooler where he lived at that time, suggested that Coniglio drugged multiple girls and then molested and raped them. He also possessed more than 50,000 images and/or videos depicting child porn. There is no evidence suggesting that Coniglio shared or traded any of the videotaped assaults, authorities said.

Over the past 15 years, Coniglio lived in Savannah, Charleston and Hilton Head in South Carolina, and Raleigh and Charlotte in North Carolina.

A confidential questionnaire is available for anyone who thinks they may have been victimized by Coniglio or who may have information regarding his predatory behavior.

“While Coniglio took many answers with him upon his death, the FBI is now focused on efforts to provide victim assistance and support to those numerous individuals whom Coniglio harmed,” FBI Special Agent in Charge, Atlanta Field Office, J. Britt Johnson said in a statement.

The FBI encourages those who may have information about the ongoing investigation regarding Coniglio or who believe they may have been victimized by him to send an e-mail to FBIvictimassistance@ic.fbi.gov or to contact the FBI’s victim assistance toll free number at 1-877-236-8947.
