Gray-bearded "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson has jumped into the squabble over North Carolina's "bathroom law," seeking to raise money for those supporting the controversial bill.

As noted in the Hollywood Reporter, Robertson has sent out an email seeking donations for the conservative non-profit Citizens United, to support an effort called Speak Freely.

“Men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom,” Robertson says in the email. “Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted.”

The email links to StandTallWithPhil.org, where he writes "the Godly values that propelled America to greatness are under attack by the mob mentality of political correctness – and we're slowly losing our soul."

The North Carolina law stipulates that men and women must use the restrooms of the gender that appears on their birth certificate, a requirement that is seen to discriminate against transgender individuals.

“Duck Dynasty” is a hit reality television show that follows Robertson, his sons and his brother Si, a West Monroe, La., family that has made a successful business manufacturing supplies for duck hunters.

Robertson was suspended briefly from the show for making disparaging comments about homosexuals.
