DeKalb SWAT standoff ends in suicide

A SWAT standoff in DeKalb County ended with a suicide Saturday night, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Officers were called to the house on South Deshon Road near Lithonia at about 4 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

The situation began when police escorted a man to the home to deal with a dispute over belongings. The man called the person inside, who hung up. Officers heard gunfire inside the home, then saw someone open and close the door, according to Channel 2.

SWAT officers blocked off the neighborhood for hours.

DeKalb police said one person died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and one person was brought out of the home safely, Channel 2 said.
