The DeKalb County School District placed among top school districts nationally for its use of technology, schools officials said today.

According to a press release from the district, DeKalb placed ninth in the Center for Digital Education’s and the National School Boards Association’s Digital School Districts Survey for the use of innovative technologies and for implementing technology benchmarks in the evolution of digital education.

The district, Georgia’s third largest with more than 101,000 students, is known for its STEM curriculum as well as practices including BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and a mobile app that allows parents to stay updated on district news. DeKalb schools also are 100 percent wireless, the release states, and constantly taking steps to improve digital communication with students, parents and the community.
