Three people, including a father and son, were killed Thursday in a head-on collision near the Carroll-Douglas county line, the Georgia State Patrol said Friday.

The crash happened about 5:40 p.m. A silver Nissan Altima heading west on Ga. 166 in Carroll County crossed the centerline and struck a black Nissan Maxima that was heading east, Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson said.

Officials did not say what prompted the driver of the Altima, identified as 61-year-old Hollice Eason, to cross the centerline.

“Reasons on the cause of the crash are unknown at this time, except for that the driver of the Altima failed to maintain her lane,” Watson said. “Troopers do not suspect alcohol and/or drug use.”

Eason and the driver of the Maxima, identified as 43-year-old Hosea Clay George, died at the scene.

George’s son, a passenger in the Maxima, was flown to a local hospital. David Clay George, 25, died on the way to the hospital “within an hour after the others,” Carroll County Deputy Coroner Keith Hancock said.
