Customers at a Michigan supermarket who were being attacked were rescued when another customer pulled out a gun and shot at the assailant, WXMI reported.

The incident occurred at a Meijer’s store in Oshtemo Township about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the television station reported.

Deputies in Kalamazoo said the suspect had assaulted several employees and a customer, WXMI reported.

That's when the armed customer took matters into his hands and fired at the suspect as he fled, the television station reported.

Deputies said they did not believe anyone was injured by the gunfire. They described the suspect as a black male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, who was last seen wearing a green and gray sweater, sweatpants and a baseball cap, WXMI reported.
