At least one person was killed in a fiery crash in College Park that shut down an I-285 on-ramp for several hours Tuesday morning.

An investigator from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said a victim was tentatively identified, but officials couldn’t release the victim’s name Tuesday afternoon because they had yet to confirm their identity.

The wreck was reported on the I-285 South ramp to I-85 South shortly after 5:30 a.m. The flames were quickly extinguished, but investigators remained at the scene much of the morning, and all lanes reopened shortly before 10 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Photos from the scene showed a charred and crumpled vehicle on its roof in a grassy bank. The crash is being investigated by the College Park Police Department, which has not released any details.

It was not clear if any other vehicles were involved.
