Temperatures are on their way up, but weather conditions should still be pretty nice Thursday all across North Georgia.

The region has been treated to a fall preview over the past few days with low humidity and fall-like temperatures in the 50s for lows and low 80s for highs. Those numbers will edge up slightly Thursday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan, and humidity will begin to climb as well.

Monahan said we will start to notice the increased humidity, but there will be no rain to worry about for at least the next week or so. In fact, North Georgia is likely going to stay dry through the end of the month, he said.

“We’ve had a million-dollar forecast week,” Monahan said. “It’s going to be that way this weekend. Great weather for your outdoor plans.”

Metro Atlanta is starting Thursday in the low 60s, and plenty of sunshine is on the way. Monahan is calling for a high of 85 degrees in the city, which is slightly above average for this time of year.

Dry air overhead will mean next to no cloud cover, he said. Aside from a few fair weather clouds, the sky should stay mostly clear into the overnight hours, setting up the region for another comfortable start in the low 60s on Friday morning.

Friday’s projected high is also 85 degrees, according to the latest forecast.

“We’ll finish the work week with lots of sunshine on your Friday,” Monahan said. “Saturday and Sunday we’re in the mid-80s for highs. Mid- to upper 80s — some of these spots could be back near 90 — by early next week.”

Fall officially begins Sept. 22, and the average temperature on the first day of the season is 82 degrees. According to Monahan, the forecast is trending toward a warmer start to fall for metro Atlanta.

Atlanta's projected high is 85 degrees Thursday. According to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan, parts of North Georgia should stay dry through the end of this month.
