A Marietta man was arrested Thursday and charged with malice murder after police said he shot a man at a Cobb County apartment complex earlier that day.

Officers responded to the Cobblestone Apartments on Pat Mell Road, off Austell Road and near Dobbins Air Reserve Base, shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday. A man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, police spokesman Sgt. Eric Smith said in a news release.

According to an arrest warrant, 33-year-old Tonolono Price is accused of shooting the victim multiple times in the torso and neck area. He was taken into custody Thursday night and charged with aggravated assault and malice murder.

The victim, identified as 44-year-old Dequelle Williamson by police, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Cobblestone Apartments is among 272 of the metro area’s persistently dangerous complexes, according to an investigation by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that looked into serious crimes, lax maintenance and other hazards in Atlanta neighborhoods. From 2017 through March 5, 2023, police reported 37 crimes at the complex, including five aggravated assaults and eight robberies.
