A Gwinnett County woman is facing several charges and is in the custody of immigration officials after a crash that injured two Hall County sheriff’s deputies, an official said.

The wreck happened about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when Dunia F. Hernandez-Guevara, 34, of Duluth, tried to turn left onto southbound I-985 from Ga. 60 in Hall County, sheriff’s deputy Stephen Wilbanks said.

With her three children also in the car, Hernandez-Guevara turned into the path of a sheriff’s car carrying two deputies and a suspect headed to jail, Wilbanks said.

All seven people in the crash were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, officials said. They were treated and released.

Hernandez-Guevara faces charges of not yielding the right of way, driving while unlicensed, driving without insurance, and not properly restraining her children in the van, Wilbanks said. Two children were not wearing seat belts.

Hernandez-Guevara is on a hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Wilbanks said.
