Police are trying to identify a person of interest in an attempted kidnapping outside a DeKalb County burger bar.

A 24-year-old woman told police she returned to her car about 9 p.m. Nov. 25 after picking up some food from Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar on Church Street, according to an incident report. Just as she was about to start the vehicle, a man got in the front passenger seat, pointed a black rifle at her and told her to “drive,” police said in the incident report.

The woman jumped out of the car and ran into the restaurant. She asked someone to call police because she dropped her phone while running, the report said.

The woman told police she saw the man leave the scene in a gray, four-door vehicle.

He is described as between 40 and 50 years old, roughly 5 feet tall and about 130 pounds. He has short black hair and was last seen in a black jacket, dark pants and black hat, police said.

“Unfortunately, there isn’t any surveillance video of this incident,” DeKalb police spokesman Sgt. J.D. Spencer said Saturday in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DeKalb police at 770-724-7850. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
