An 18-year-old man is jailed without bond in Paulding County after he shot and killed his mother’s ex-boyfriend, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Jordan Holt of Dallas was arrested in connection with the death of Justin McKenzie, 28, of Cartersville, Sgt. Ashley Henson said Thursday.

The victim’s body was found about 7:12 p.m. Wednesday in Dallas in the driver’s seat of a car that had crashed across from the 3800 block of Mt. Tabor Church Road, Henson said.

Witnesses and others told detectives that Holt shot McKenzie while he was in the car, Henson said.

“According to Holt, there was a history of domestic violence between him and McKenzie over the course of the last year,” Henson said. “At this point, detectives are currently investigating what led up to the shooting.”

Holt has been charged with reckless conduct, and more charges are possible, Henson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (770) 443-3015.
