A tip received by a task force led to the arrest of a Coweta County man on child pornography charges, the GBI said.

Michael Wayne St. John Sr., 64, was arrested Thursday after agents searched his home in the 5000 block of North Highway 29, GBI agent Debbie Garner told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The arrest came after the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, which is managed by the GBI, received a tip about possible illegal activity associated with a computer’s Internet Protocol address, Garner said.

After tracing the activity, “we were able to find child porn on his computer,” Garner said.

St. John is charged with two counts of felony sexual exploitation of children, Garner said. He was released from the Coweta County jail Saturday on $27,900 bond.

The investigation of St. John continues, Garner said.

The GBI-managed task force receives about 500 tips a month about possible illegal online child porn activity.
