A man wanted in connection with a Hall County drive-by shooting in June was found by authorities Monday holed up in a Decatur hotel room.

Jeffery Scott Moss, 27, of Gainesville, was arrested and charged in the June 30 shooting at a home in the 40 block of Stallworth Street near Gainesville, authorities said.

No one was injured in the incident when someone opened fire on the home.

Hall County deputies asked for the public’s help to locate Moss after witnesses saw the shooter drive away from the scene in a gray Nissan sedan with tinted windows. Officers stopped the vehicle on Dean Street, one street away from the shooting, later the same day.

“Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Moss after he ran from the traffic stop on foot,” the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook. “They also recovered a handgun from the abandoned vehicle.”

He is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond on charges of aggravated assault and first-degree criminal damage to property.

No other details on Moss’ DeKalb County arrest were released.
