An Atlanta man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly pointing a rifle at people near the Beltline in the middle of the afternoon, police said.

Malachi Bullock, 22, was taken into custody in the 800 block of Willoughby Way about 2:30 p.m. after police received several calls about a man pointing a rifle, yelling and making threats.

Police said they arrived to find a small-caliber rifle lying on the ground near Bullock in the Old Fourth Ward near the Beltline’s skatepark.

According to police, Bullock was involved in “an ongoing dispute” with another man at the scene and pointed a rifle at him during an altercation.

The man left, but several witnesses told police that Bullock then turned his rifle toward them while yelling and making threats, authorities said.

Bullock is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and reckless conduct. He remains in the Fulton County jail, records show.
