Update: The search for a car theft suspect in Lawrenceville has been suspended, according to Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera. The lock downs at five schools in the vicinity of the search area are in the process of being lifted, she said.

Original story: Five Gwinnett County schools have been placed on lock down while police search for a car theft suspect.

Gwinnett Police officials said the following schools were placed on lock down late Wednesday morning as a precaution: Collins Hill High School, Walnut Grove Elementary School, Woodward Mill Elementary School, Taylor Elementary School and Creekland Middle School.

Police had been searching for the suspect in the area of Collins Hill Road and Camp Perrin Road in Lawrenceville.
