Two days before Christmas, a North Fulton family had to bury a 21-year-old college student after he was hit and killed while walking on Ga. 400.

His family is now searching for answers, since they can’t find the young man’s car, keys and wallet.

Sonia Hellen, the cousin of Stephane Agan, told Channel 2 Action News that her family has been heartbroken ever since Atlanta police called them Saturday.

“He was absolutely wonderful,” she said. “He was studying in engineering school and (was) just the baby of our family.”

She told Channel 2 that her family believes Agan was returning home to Sandy Springs early Saturday morning from the Battery Atlanta outside SunTrust Park when he was robbed. About 6 a.m., he would be hit and killed by a vehicle while in a left lane on Ga. 400 South near Sidney Marcus Boulevard in Buckhead, AJC.com previously reported.

“We know he was at the Battery, SunTrust Park, which is clear across town,” Hellen said. “What we don’t know is where his car is, where his phone is or his keys, and we sure do not understand why he was on foot on Ga. 400.”

The driver who hit him stayed at the scene to speak with investigators. As of Tuesday afternoon, the driver had not been charged.

Police investigator James H. White told AJC.com that “there has been no evidence uncovered suggesting that a carjacking or robbery occurred prior to the incident.” He added that the investigation remains ongoing.

“We don’t know,” Hellen said. “There are just so many unanswered questions only because (we) don’t have some of the key things to piece it all together.”

She said Agan drove a navy blue 2016 Nissan Rogue.
