Eight people have been arrested and two others charged in gang-related shootings this year in Athens, police said Thursday.
The 14 incidents primarily involved members and associates of local Bloods and Crips street gangs, police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said.
“Two individuals have been shot during these shootings,” Rodriguez said, “property has been damaged and human life has been placed at risk.”
Police asked for no bond stipulations, and several of the suspects have bonded out, Rodriguez said.
A 15-year-old juvenile boy was among those charged.
The adult suspects are: Jarvious Clarke ($12,500 bond), Montavious Crew (released on $9,000 bond), Terique Eberhart (active warrants), Raydreone Howard (active warrants), Jamir James (released on $3,000 bond), Quintellis Smith (no information available), Damari Jones ($9,000 bond, incarcerated), Damari Jones ($9,000 bond), Miquan Pittard (house arrest with monitor) and Ladaryn Thrasher ($2,500 bond).
